Searching for the best travel insurance can be quite challenging with so many options out there. Even if you’ve already chosen an insurance company you can trust, you may find it hard to choose between the pros and cons of all the options. Single Trip and Backpacker travel insurance are two of the most popular choices with similar coverage features in the same price bracket. As travellers often have trouble choosing between these two policies, we decided to compare Backpacker travel insurance and Single Trip.
Globelink offers several Singe Trip travel insurance options and two Backpacker travel insurance policies under the names of Globetrekkers Standard and Globetrekkers Standard Plus.
The Globetrekkers Standard policy covers the bare essentials, while Regular and Globetrekkers Standard Plus policies have a more extensive coverage.
Regular Single Trip travel insurance is designed to cover people travelling on a single trip, whether you’re on a package or independent trip with the maximum trip duration of up to 60 days. Backpacker travel insurance policies are meant to cover travellers aged 50 years or under for up to 15 months with the possibility to extend the coverage duration to 18 months. You could also opt for a Comprehensive Single Trip policy which provides a wider and higher level of benefits for travellers aged up to 89yrs for travel up to 15 months (age restrictions apply to periods of travel).

When choosing the best policy for you, pay particular attention to: trip duration; benefits and cover levels; and the policy excess.
If you know you will be away for a long time but need a no-frills, basic cover policy, you might want to opt for a Globetrekkers Standard travel insurance.
If you need a bit more coverage for baggage and a few more benefits and you are away less than 2 months, then Regular cover may be a good fit for you. If you want the same level of coverage for a longer trip of several months, then go for Globetrekkers Standard Plus to stay secure and know you are protected for your entire long-stay trip overseas. Alternatively, if you want belt and braces peace of mind that you have the best cover available from Globelink for whatever unexpected mishap that may occur, then go for Comprehensive Single Trip cover, which will have you sorted with our top level of cover for up to 15 months away (with the option of extending for a further 3 months).
Choose wisely and travel safely!
