Repatriation Travel Insurance

The additional Repatriation insurance cover must be included for One Way trips exceeding 31 days. We have no minimum residency period but we strongly recommend that you get yourself registered with a GP in the UK as applicable with the local healthcare arrangements in place.

Globelink travel insurance covers you for Emergency Repatriation back to your country of residence in the UK as standard, however, at step 3 you may extend the cover for Repatriation to Australia, New Zealand or South Africa if medically necessary. If you die, the policy will pay funeral expenses abroad plus the cost of returning your ashes, or the cost of returning your remains home.

Remember, the costs associated with repatriation insurance often far exceed the cost of the medical treatment and you should ensure this is covered by your policy.

If you need to be returned home, it could cost you many thousands of pounds, unless you are adequately insured. Here are a few examples:

If you have a decent comprehensive travel insurance policy, you should have access to 24 hour emergency assistance. In the event of illness or injury, you or your travelling companion should call them immediately, or ask the hospital staff to call them. The assistance provider will agree treatment, arrange direct payment and also, they will help to organise a necessary additional travel and accommodation expenses of your travelling companion and repatriation of you and your companion once you are fit enough to travel. It is important that you do your utmost to avoid paying for treatment yourself with the possible exception of very minor ailments.
